The varsity boys cross country team and one of our girls (Katelyn Shaver) competed in the PIAA Championships in Hershey, Pa. on Saturday November 2nd.

Katelyn hit the muddy course first thing Saturday morning and ran an impressive 22:10 to finish in 93rd and 44 seconds faster than her WPIAL qualifying race! Congratulations Katelyn! Up next, the boys’ team set out to tackle Parkview’s hills. Together they finished 9th in the state….only 8 points behind 7th place! Senior Eric Gronbeck capped his high school career with an individual state medal (16th) and a sub 17:00 on the challenging course (16:54). Co-captain Wes Rodu was not far behind (17:38 for 42nd). The rest of our PIAA qualifying squad also ran solid races: Sean Aiken(18:00 for 69th), Ian Bilger (18:36 for 126th), AJ Wagstaff (18:37 for 127th), Brandon Gunzburg (19:54 for 196th) and Noah Reaoch (20:34 for 212th). Congrats to our PIAA qualifiers who had the opportunity to compete that weekend, and many, many thanks to our parents and friends who traveled to support the team!
